TANGZHUANG VILLAGE COMMUNITY CENTER

The design captures two features of Tangzhuang village: the nested texture of the rural settlements and the dense waterways. The courtyard of the traditional houses in Lixiahe and the traditional construction of grey tiles, brick, and hollow brick walls have become the design language and logic of the project. Our design intends to make the space among each building and space between buildings and the surroundings a unique cultural realm, connected to tangible things as well as intangible things of spiritual, cultural, social and historical concern, to make residents feel attach at this site and to increase social sustainability, finally to bring back the vitality of depopulated Tangzhuang.
