SHANGHAI GUOHUA FINANCIAL CENTRE
The Shanghai Guohua Financial Center, inspired by the unique urban DNA of the North Bund and Hongkou districts, breathing new life into the community.
Breaking the norm of high-rises dominating their sites, it strategically positions its towers at the edges, creating a vibrant central public space. This area not only offers views of the historic Song house and distant Huangpu River but also enhances pedestrian links to neighboring areas.
Its facade, reflecting the local texture, transitions from solid to void in a gradient ascent, mirroring the cityscape. Integrating traditional Shanghai elements like brick-red hues, the design skillfully negotiates the complex interplay of urban context, sightlines, mutual visibility, and regulatory constraints, encapsulating a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
