Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention Center

Entrusted by Beijing Enterprises Group Real Estate Co., Ltd, AECOM provided Master Planning, Architectural Design, and Landscape Environmental Design services for approx. 60 ha. Yanqi Lake Island, which held APEC China 2014. Twelve honored guest villas, one boutique hotel, a large international conference center, and necessary ancillary recreational facilities were arranged on this island.

We integrated the essence of Chinese Imperial Garden layout and modern design language to achieve the transformation of Chinese traditional culture and natural context. With respect to history and design theory innovation, we created a magnificent modern Chinese landscape scroll painting. A magnificent panoramic view of Great Wall and the mountains is on the west side and grand lake view is unfolded in front of you on the east side. Along the central axis located Northern Wetland, Winter Garden, and Conference Center, to south Summer Garden showed different topography’s own unique landscape characters. Between the balance of concealment and revelation, nature and culture, harmony was reached throughout the land and cultivation of hospitality.

AECOM Landscape Environmental TEAM also considered the protection and restoration of the island ecosystems. To improve the environmental quality of the full range of habitat by increasing the degree of relevance of biological diversity, and strive for Harmony with Nature. The design process also takes into account the complexity of the traffic and services flow and long-term operating strategies include stringent security measures and subsequent meetings to inject the entire region with enduring vitality and making this project a master piece.
