Di Shui Lake Green Belt Linear Park
With a diameter of 2.5 km and a water body of 5.66 km², Dishui Lake is one of the largest man-made freshwater lakes in China and the centrepiece of Shanghai’s urban plan for Lingang Port City. The original 80m wide green-belt and extensive four-lane road around the lake separated the Port City’s commercial edge from the water. As an answer to this challenge, both the 8.2 km green belt and road were converted into a linear sports park and tree lined grandiose avenue linking the city and water edge together as one. International events include marathons were designed in unison with a network of cycle trails, grand lawns, undulating hills, themed botanical gardens and wetlands.
