Poly Palace of Light

The site is adjacent to the No. 6 exit of the Wangjiazhuang Light Rail Station, Yuelai Town, Yubei District, Chongqing. Light, since ancient times, has been people’s most desire for nature. Accompanied by light and coexist with shadow, the Palace of Light is trying to demonstrate the social attitude of Taoism “of the same hidden virtue and the same commonplace”. The convergence of buildings and light as one has its own value and meaningfulness without showing off its sharpness or hiding away from the outside world. It is the intention of design to carve a crystal clear diamond in nature with the force of light. The design process is a dialogue buildings had with light. Started from “light” with buildings created as “residence of light”, the whole spatial circulation offers visitors a progressive spaces hierarchy. Using “light” as intermediary and transit from complexity to simple, a residence of seclusion came into existence.
