Banyan Tree Plaza, a corner park in the city for leisure, recreation, physical exercise and gathering, is located in the Old Taijiang area of Fuzhou, and is surrounded by the old town. Two centuries-old banyan trees are in the site. The project aims to maximize the conservation of the old trees in the site, improve the environmental quality of the surrounding old town, lead the urban regeneration, stimulate the city’s energy, and integrate landscape, architecture, and nature. It makes the fusion of built environment and nature with old and new. Inspired by the ancient tree annual ring, a landscape space that can inherit the historical and cultural connotation of Fuzhou (Banyan City) with regional characteristic is created.
