CFREEGO DA BAN QIAO SERVICE AREA

In recent years, the increase in demand for tourism has also resulted in the need for amenities such as the rest-stop to evolve in terms of functions and operation model. The client, China Communications Construction, has chosen Kunming’s Da Ban Qiao Service Zone as the pilot project of CFREEGO, an initiative to upgrade their existing amenities along the highway. Integration of technology, nature and socioeconomics are key ideas in the project. These include objectives such as promoting international cultural exchange, rejuvenating local tourism and meeting diverse consumer needs, all of which culminating to a new operational model for the service area. The basis of the upgrade is to retain the original structure of the building. Existing functions were organized into clusters to create a rational circulation system. The clusters are then connected by a series of courtyards, creating a series of view corridors.
