GUANGZHOU TIMES CHINA TIMES IMPRINT COMMUNITY CENTRE

Located in the emerging Guangzhou knowledge city district, the site is surrounded by residential buildings. We aim to create a place for sports exercises and a place with spiritual and artistic atmosphere. The concept is a simple floating metal box. A red ribbon like staircase connects this box with ground. This ‘ribbon’ spreads into the whole building and form the interior spaces. Meanwhile, it provides strong way finding system. To ensure this concept, we built a 37m truss structure. The suspended soffit if cladded with waving stainless steel panels which reflect the water waves.
