HAZENS ARK CENTER

In addition to showcasing a TOD masterplan, Hazens ARK Center aims to deliver the government’s regeneration vision to the public. Given a limited site area, the designer reduced massing of the architecture by push and pull of volumes, creating negative spaces as ‘traditional zones’ and positive spaces as ‘functional zones’. Each volume expresses ‘Vision of the Future’; ‘Understanding the Future’; and ‘Realizing of the Future’. A futuristic visitor experience is continuously fueled with anticipation & surprises leading visitors to experience ‘Unknown’, ‘Visionary’, ‘Delights’, ‘Discovery’ and ‘Realization’.
It is also a pilot project to re-activate the Longgang District as a vibrant area that can trigger further urban regeneration in surrounding area, avoiding further urban sprawl of Shenzhen. It was also designed with long-term lifespan consideration in mind, allowing it to be converted into retail space as a permanent function after the district is well-developed 10-15 years later.
