GEMDALE GALAXY (DEMONSTRATION AREA)

Located in the core of Jiading New Town, Shanghai Gemdale Galaxy connects the old and new towns and enjoys the supporting facilities of the two areas. Its south side and west side are adjacent to public green land and river, demonstrating obvious ecological environment advantages.The design concept of “Wandering in Wonderland” for the Neighborhood Center is put forward based on the advantages of environmental background. We take the human body as the scale to control the generation of space, and the sight is controlled within the approachable scale through the horizontal extension of the one-storey gallery and mirror elements. The adverse influence brought by the surrounding substation can be weakened, and the simple and exquisite architectural form is elegantly hidden in the multi-dimensional space, thus the architecture and nature achieve a high degree of fit to endow the space with infinite possibilities of extension and exploration.
