XI’AN DAMINGGONG JINMAO PALACE (DEMONSTRATION AREA)
Located in a planned park, the whole design of the demonstration plot is an exploration of the spatial relationship of traditional garden architecture in modern architecture. A semi-open and closed courtyard formed by the irregularly shaped buildings creates a natural and interesting boundary between the buildings and the landscape, generating a rich “positive and negative” spatial relationship. With the use of height differences, framing and borrowed views , the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces are blurred and integrated. While the interior space unfolds around the central water feature, the exterior landscape is incorporated to the greatest extent possible to achieve a different view at every step. At a later stage, the demonstration plot will be fully preserved and handed over to the government as a City Book Bar to citizenry and a part of the park landscape.
