ORGANIC RENEWAL IN THE YULIN AREA OF CHENGDU

Tucked away in the heart of Chengdu, the old Yulin Neighborhood is a haven for literature and the arts. This charming quarter has become a magnet for artists, scholars, designers, and tourists, making it a significant landmark in contemporary Chengdu. The Office for Urban Renewal (OUR) spearheaded the rejuvenation of this 0.24 square kilometer area. In collaboration with architects, artists, and the local community, and under the guidance of the Bureau of Park-City Development and Management of Wuhou District, we implemented a comprehensive regeneration plan for the area, with the theme of “Yulin for the World and the World of Yulin”. This plan included the revitalization of local businesses, the addition of public facilities, the enhancement of shared spaces, the promotion of non-motorized transportation, and the establishment of an ecological base for a resilient community.
