BEIJING SATELLITE MANUFACTURING FACTORY SCIENCE PARK
Located in China’s capital, the Beijing Satellite Manufacturing Factory was founded in 1958 and is the birthplace (development site) of China’s first artificial Earth satellite, Dong Fang Hong 1, which was launched in 1970. At present, two of its buildings have been included in the national industrial heritage list. Due to the inability of the factory area to meet modern technological research and manufacturing needs, the Hongshi team undertook the site’s architectural and landscape restoration. The total construction area of the park is about 30,000 square meters. In order to inherit the space culture and industrial heritage, the park is positioned as an industrial park, and the architectural monomers and landscape of the park have been renovated in the “industry +” mode. After the project’s transformation, the site now serves as both a business and industrial park and an urban park, which showcases an open and historically rich heritage that the public can once again enjoy.
