Respecting History and Fostering Family Culture The Taikang Hui Garden puts seniors at the center of this growing new city of Hefei. It is designed around a central, sunny park. The circular loop connects all 6 independent living/assisted living towers for year-round weather protected circulation. The overall planning and architectural form of Hui Garden community echo the spatial imagery and architectural vocabulary of traditional villages in Huizhou, inspired by Hefei’s rich cultural heritage as a center for traditional Chinese reading, writing, learning, and creativity. The mixed-use entry plaza provides a welcoming place where seniors, family, and the community can enjoy one another within an environment that is convenient and safe. It replicates the type of atmosphere where Chinese families have celebrated together for thousands of years. The hospital serves residents, as well as the community, and provides health check-ups for prospective residents.
