MIFA 1862

Founded in 1862, Shanghai Shipyard was one of the birthplaces of China’s modern industrial civilization, recording the development history of China’s shipbuilding industry. More than a century later, the Shanghai Shipyard turned around and re-entered the stage. The world’s architect Kengo Kuma personally renovated the old building. The old building displayed its unique sense of scale and the Shanghai characteristics of the old bricks. It created a sense of scale in the indoor space which was quite different from the general commercial building, and finally formed a fashionable art space full of historical and industrial sense. The type of Art Theatre and immersive art commercial space have gradually become the unique new landmark of urban culture and art in Shanghai.
