Vanke Cloud City Pixel Community

Located in Guangzhou, Vanke Cloud City Phase 2 is a pioneer mixed use development project in China. It is composed of diverse use of affordable housing, small apartments, incubator office, commercial, school and teacher dormitory. The aim of this project is to accommodate young newcomers who work in big cities but cannot afford the high price of real estate. The landscape strategy is to create a strong community identity with a pixelated framework that guide the site organization. The aggregating nature of the this pixel language not only response flexible use of space from younger user groups, but help bringing down the construction budget with legible detail drawing and controllable craftsmanship requirement. We based the overall landscape framework on a modular grid system. From softscape, paving, to outdoor furniture and installation. Prefabricated concrete pavers and furniture are used based on this modular system so that they are easy to construct, assemble, and replace.
